Inspired by the enamoring movement of water, the Milanese artist, Jacopo Foggini, has revolutionized the use of a typically industrial materials, methacrylate and polycarbonate, to capture the undulating waves and vibrant waves of light found in nature. The artist starts by using a machine of his own invention to heat the methacrylate up to 200 Celcius, producing a filament that Foggini then molds by hand into luminous shapes, creating spectacular objects. Foggini is on a self-described “artisanal quest” to spin evocative colored fairytales through his creation of everyday objects. Chandeliers, chairs, tables, vases, and custom scenographic installations can be found in public and private spaces, as well as museum collections, around the world.
